The Colonial Quarter and the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum are both operated by former Philadelphia 76ers president Pat Croce. The Colonial Quarter is St. Augustine’s newest signature attraction developed by Pat Croce in partnership with the University of Florida. Spanning two acres in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, the Colonial Quarter offers an unparalleled living history experience with interactive activities, living history demonstrations, graphical stories and authentic restaurants.

Launched in December 2010, the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum has one of the world’s largest collections of authentic pirate artifacts dating back to the 16th century. Originally located in downtown Key West, founder Pat Croce moved the museum to historic St. Augustine where pirates once plundered. With a fun mix of authentic artifacts, state-of-the-art interactive technology and real Florida treasures, The Pirate Museum has been rated as a top national attraction by the prestigious Budget Travel magazine.



  • Build and implement an effective social media strategy with the inclusion of revenue drivers, including retail, group booking and F&B
  • Manage presence on social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications
  • Write and produce engaging social media content
  • Monitor social/online media conversations about the brand/s and respond appropriately to comments/feedback to build and maintain brand loyalty/favorable brand opinion
  • Set effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media and analyze, review, and report on the effectiveness of campaigns
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications, and build and manage additional profiles on new platforms as needed
  • Manage digital media planning and execution, including social and online media
  • Manage media channels to gain a competitive advantage in the digital space, including digital advertising and online video
  • Regularly update the business’ websites and provide input on site changes and re-design



  • Write compelling press releases, blog posts, articles, scripts, ad copy and other communications
  • Work across departments to identify positive opportunities to generate publicity
  • Build long-term media relationships with journalists, respond in a timely fashion to media requests and tour media through the attractions
  • Secure regular coverage for both brands through regular pitching and contacts
  • Book CEO/founder Pat Croce for local, regional and national media appearances
  • Participate in promotional broadcast, print, and digital media production
  • Work with management and the graphic designer to coordinate ad copy, design and proofing
  • Ensure that marketing collaterals and printed materials are flawless and submitted before advertisers’ deadlines
  • Perform quality control and ensure that all materials meet the Croce standard
  • Coordinate and provide support on special projects and event planning
  • Review all marketing and advertising activities for ROI and recommend changes to improve ROI and key performance indicators within budget



  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or related communications field
  • 3-5 years' in a communications management position
  • Two to three years’ experience managing social media for businesses
  • An established social media presence
  • Very strong writing, grammar, communication and editing skills
  • Experience writing copy for print media, TV, radio and ads. Knowledge of AP Style a plus.
  • Strong understanding of and passion for new and social media and digital engagement
  • Ability to decipher Google and social media analytics and apply to content and advertising decisions
  • Working knowledge of Wordpress, Joomla and the principles of SEO
  • Experience working with media distribution systems and tracking
  • A strong network of media contacts in the Northeast Florida region and beyond
  • Newsroom experience a plus, but not required
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and manage multiple projects
  • Team player, with the confidence to work independently or take the lead when necessary
  • A piratical sense of adventure

This is a salaried management position, not an entry-level position. Management experience required. This position also requires social media management and analytics experience; it is a significant part of the job. Relocation assistance not provided.
