SmartCEO, publisher of award-winning monthly East Coast business magazines, is seeking an editorial intern for the summer and/or fall semester. This part-time, unpaid intern position will work out of SmartCEO’s Baltimore headquarters, approximately 20 hours per week.

Major responsibilities include:

• Copyediting and fact-checking of magazine, directories and marketing materials
• Editorial research and trafficking
• Involvement in editorial creation for special sections and departments, including some writing opportunities
• Interview transcriptions
• Database upkeep and contact entry
• Administrative tasks

Candidates should have:

• A major in journalism or substantial relevant coursework and extracurricular activities
• Experience with college and/or professional newspaper, magazine or other publication
• Curiosity and creativity combined with demonstrated skills in research, reporting and writing
• Command of grammar, punctuation and AP Style
• Outgoing personality, both on the phone and in person
• Excellent work ethic, with a focus on organization, self-motivation and attention to detail, enabling candidate to meet strict deadlines
• Familiarity with the Mid-Atlantic region (Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC) and its businesses
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign
