Description: The Herald and News, a 14,500 morning newspaper based in Klamath Falls, Ore., is seeking a talented, well-organized news editor to supervise an award-winning reporting and production staff used to producing lots of copy for the daily newspaper and specialty publications. The person in this position is second in line in the newsroom and reports directly to the editor. This person oversees daily content creation and production for print, online and social media sites. Primary areas of responsibility are content editing, web administration, scheduling daily and long-range, in-depth stories and backing up the copy editing team when necessary. Three to five years of newsroom experience is a must, as is management experience. Knowledge of the Adobe Suite software, especially InDesign and Photoshop, or comparable software is vitally important. The position requires a strong manager; someone who can communicate clearly and act as a mentor to young reporters to make their copy shine. We want someone with strong journalism ethics who able to drive readership in social media, including Facebook, Twitter and mobile sites.
