Description: The Goshen News, an award-winning daily newspaper in northern Indiana, is seeking a versatile, motivated journalist to join its newsroom team as a night desk editor. The desired candidate must have strong writing abilities, well-honed editing skills, knowledge of AP style and experience with InDesign pagination software. They will also have a firm grasp of evolving trends in multimedia and social networks as well as superior organizational skills. Weekday work shifts will run from 2:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., but could vary slightly depending on work load and breaking news. Occasional weekend shifts may be required. The Goshen News (circulation 12,000) covers news in most of Elkhart County as well as parts of LaGrange, Noble and Kosciusko counties. Its talented staff has won more than 30 Hoosier State Press Association awards the past three years. Goshen (population 31,719) is located 25 miles southeast of South Bend, 120 miles southeast of Chicago and 150 miles north of Indianapolis. It is home to a thriving downtown art and social scene, the second-largest county fair in the nation and the county's only residential college -- Goshen College. Desired qualifications for this newsroom position include a bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and at least two years editing and pagination experience at a daily newspaper.
