Overview:

 

MassLive.com seeks a full-time Associate Producer to work with website and newspaper staff to maximize audience growth with a primary focus on sports through content production and search engine optimization. The Associate Producer is also charged with developing best practices for video editing, live streams and other technologies. Candidates must be able to work well as part of a dynamic, team-oriented staff, and embrace new technology. The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter with excellent critical thinking skills.

 

A flexible schedule and some weekend work required.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

• General web page maintenance and updates for 24/7 news organization
• Original reporting: Writing, editing and packaging digital content
• Copy editing/AP style
• Social media: Active presence on Twitter, Facebook and MassLive community
• Manage events such as live chats, podcasts, live video streams, etc.
• Develop best practices for video shooting & editing
• Serve as point person with Advance Digital Community team

 

Requirements:

 

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Education background in journalism or communications is highly preferred.
• Applicants should have 1-3 years professional experience writing, producing and packaging digital content.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Strong writer; familiarity with AP Style
• HTML required; Familiarity with CSS, javascript a plus
• Movable Type or equivalent blogging software
• Video editing/shooting expertise
• Familiarity with streaming technologies
• Early adopter of new technologies, new processes and best practices for creating and maintaining digital content to grow audience
• Results-oriented, with experience in a deadline-oriented environment
• Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
