Description: We’re looking for a reporting ace to cover our health and education beats. These are the toughest two beats we have, and we need a top-notch journalist to provide the quality coverage our readers have come to expect from us. The ideal candidate will be someone with a proven ability to craft clear, concise stories on deadline. A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is required. At least two year's experience at a daily or weekly newspaper is preferred. The New Era is one of two family-owned daily newspapers in Kentucky. Our offices are 10 miles from Fort Campbell, Ky., home of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and an hour's drive from Nashville, Tenn., to the south and Evansville, Ind., to the north. The region offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities, including the U.S. Forest Service’s giant Land Between the Lakes recreation area just to our west. We also consistently finish among the best at the Kentucky Press Association's annual awards ceremony. To apply for this position, you’ll need a cover letter explaining why you’re the right person for the job. Also please include a resume, references and three writing samples, and send them to Editor Eli Pace at epace@kentuckynewera.com. No phone calls please.
