Description:

 

The Dallas Morning News is searching for a skilled journalist to write cover stories for its weekly Neighborsgo editions and its corresponding digital community pages. The position is responsible for contributing daily news and information for the web, as well as to the Metro section county-by-county report. The job also requires occasional stints as a fill-in section editor. 

The ability to juggle multiple assignments is crucial to success, as is a knowledge and appreciation of community news. The ideal candidate will have experience in government, public safety and general assignments reporting.

Superior writing and source-development skills are required. Expertise writing for multiple media platforms is a must. Photography skills are a plus.

Other requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications
  • The ability to conceive and execute compelling community-based news stories
  • Demonstrated ability producing digital journalism and using social media
  • 2-3 years experience producing accurate news and feature stories
  • Ability to cultivate community contributors to reader-generated content
