Description: The News Herald in Morganton N.C., is looking for a top-notch journalist who has the ability to cover crime, courts, government, business, features, etc. The right journalist will have the desire to provide outstanding coverage and breaking news across multiple platforms. The News Herald also places an emphasis on multimedia coverage on its website. That means regularly using Facebook and Twitter to promote the print product, along with shooting and editing outstanding video clips. The News Herald is a 10,000 circulation newspaper an hour north of Charlotte that publishes Sunday through Friday. The paper regularly wins awards from the North Carolina Press Association for its outstanding coverage of Burke County. The position requires someone who can not only write the stories, but tell the story with photos and video. This candidate must also have a complete understanding of web and social media aspects of the job. Must be able to shoot/edit video, as well. Commanding knowledge of AP style, impeccable news judgment and ability to manage time and multiple stories and situations at once is essential. Part of World Media Enterprise, The News Herald offers competitive pay and benefits. A college-educated journalist with two years of experience is preferred, but recent college graduates with relevant experience and strong clips will be considered.
