Description:

U.S. News & World Report is seeking a copy editor for the Travel section (http://travel.usnews.com). At U.S. News Travel, we strive to produce content that is both creative and informative in order to help our readers make the best decisions when planning a vacation. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong eye for details and the ability to edit a wide variety of content, including travel guides, hotel reviews, rankings lists, and feature articles, and he or she will take on some of the writing responsibilities as well. The ideal candidate will share our passion for travel and for helping others; this begins with providing high quality, on-target information.

Responsibilities include:

  • Copy editing travel guides, hotel reviews, rankings lists, and feature articles for grammar, style, facts, and relevancy to our audience
  • Ensuring that our styles remain consistent across the site
  • Managing data/content quality processes for our rankings franchises
  • Researching for and authoring some of our travel guides, hotel advice, rankings, and articles
  • Offering ideas and opinions on U.S. News Travel’s product and content strategies

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and experience with AP style
  • Keen attention to detail and willingness to double- and triple-check facts
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines while handling several tasks simultaneously
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with content management systems a plus
  • At least one year professional experience in writing/editing
  • Degree or training in journalism or communication a plus
