LEGAL JOURNALIST. Missouri Lawyers Media seeks a legal journalist to lead our St. Louis-based Verdicts & Settlements reporting. Responsibilities include rounding up and reporting jury awards and out-of-court settlements from around the state, managing a network of freelancers doing the same, contributing a regular column as well as trend stories to our flagship Missouri Lawyers Weekly newspaper, and managing our digital V&S services. In addition, the post provides opportunities for editing and project management, including being the primary reporter for one of our most widely read issues of the year, our annual V&S rankings. We’ll show strong preference to candidates who are law graduates with journalism experience or journalists with experience covering the courts. In all cases we’re looking for demonstrated skill in reporting and verifying facts, explaining legal concepts in plain and economical English, writing engagingly for a sophisticated audience, project management, and organization.
