Description: The Daily Advertiser is seeking an energetic police reporter who can cover breaking news in a multi-parish coverage area while developing enterprise stories that take crime news beyond the day-to-day coverage. The reporter for this position should be able to develop sources on a beat, work closely with local law enforcement and recognize stories that rise beyond a typical crime story. We expect this reporter to handle the smaller, breaking news stories but to generate weekend/enterprise and investigative stories that help our readers understand crime in the community. A strong candidate will have two to five years of reporting experience and the writing skills to take a story beyond the 5 Ws of basic coverage. Send resume and story samples to Executive Editor Karen Lincoln Michel, kmichel@theadvertiser.com The Daily Advertiser is an equal opportunity employer.
