ROLE:

Programs and produces news and sports content for SunSentinel.com.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans, programs and updates content for SunSentinel.com.
• Regularly trains and coaches newsroom staff on new and existing content production tools.
• Must have or develop knowledge of local news events, leaders and institutions
• Builds custom content pages and interactive elements using HTML, CSS, Javascript and third-party tools, as well as assists with troubleshooting newsroom issues with Sun-Sentinel.com.
• Develops multimedia coverage, including video, interactive presentations, audio, photos, user-generated content, polls, etc.
• Develops a strong understanding of the Sun-Sentinel.com and SouthFlorida.com audience and influences coverage newsroom-wide through use of various audience metrics.
• Uses information supplied by reporters, news partners, press releases and other sources to originate content for SunSentinel.com, demonstrating sound news judgment and quick response time. Writes accurate, web-centric headlines and blurbs.
• Works with other divisions (Marketing and Advertising) in building out content channels on SunSentinel.com. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of two years experience creating and editing digital content.
• Demonstrated skill with creating HTML/CSS-based layouts and working with Javascript, preferably with knowledge of working with a library such as jQuery, script.aculo.us.
• Must be an aggressive innovator with the interest and ability to rapidly learn bleeding edge multimedia skills in a self-directed manner, along with having an audience-building mindset.
• Ability to perform basic video edits.
• Sharp news judgment.
• Excellent spelling, grammar, writing and editing skills.
• Should have a college degree or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to work occasional weekend and night hours.
