Description:

We're looking for a whip-smart, cheerful, can-do reporter to join our growing news operation in Old Town Virginia. We publish two newsletters, FTC:WATCH and CFPB:WATCH, which follow the Federal Trade Commission, Justice Department and the fledgling Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. We publish twice monthly, in print form and on-line. FTC:WATCH has been around for 35 years, and is a respected news source for information on mergers, online privacy and consumer protection. CFPB:WATCH is our newest venture, and it keeps a keen eye on this controversial new agency as it tackles major consumer financial problems like credit card abuses, mortgage foreclosures and burgeoning student debt. We need an energetic, tech-savvy self-starter who is comfortable writing on different platforms, is flexible enough to jump in and work on whatever needs doing, and who isn't afraid to dive deeply into complex areas of law, business and government. Some of the work will be routine, but this position also offers the opportunity to become an expert on big topics confronting the country and the world in an increasingly global economy. We like a light-hearted work environment, but these are serious subjects and only thoughtful, conscientious and curious people need apply.
