Job Summary
 
  • Assists in the planning, organization, development and implementation of public relations/communications program which advance the University's public relations and marketing objectives.
  • Assists in the planning, organization, development and implementation of public relations/communications programs which advance the university's public relations and marketing objectives.
  • Writes/edits stories and headlines weekly for the university's news site and helps create and disseminate weekly e-newsletter. Secures/creates photographs; assists in the creation of videotaped assets for online. Compiles and edits the Class Notes section for FIU Magazine.
  • Assists in developing and implementing specific marketing and promotional programs which will advance the university's mission and goals.
  • Assists with the editorial review and proofreading of academic and marketing publications produced by the Office of Publications.
  • Maintains frequent contact with academic and administrative officers of the university. Maintains flexibility and sensitivity to establish and maintain necessary rapport with all levels of university personnel and external constituencies.
  • Handles confidential matters concerning the university, the untimely disclosure of which would be detrimental.
 
Minimum Qualifications
 
Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
 
Desired Qualifications
 
  • Preferred candidate to have professional experience working in daily journalism, with excellent news and feature writing and editing abilities, and experience in the production of online and print materials and social media.
  • Working knowledge of Word Press a plus.
