Description:

The Gainesville (TX) Daily Register seeks a talented assistant editor to be second in command of our editorial department.

The assistant editor must have a thorough knowledge of pagination and be the back-up paginator of our 6-day daily newspaper. The successful applicant must also be well versed in updating our online newspaper and social media platforms editing local content for print and digital platforms. The assistant editor is involved in writing, editing, designing and pagination.

Our assistant editor must embrace the fact that today’s newsroom operates 24/7, with frequent website and social media updates. Candidates must have excellent management and organizational skills and knowledge of AP style. Experience with Quark, website design and social media is preferred.

The Gainesville Daily Register is a 5,000-circulation, daily newspaper in north Texas. Staffing includes an editor, two reporters and a sports editor.

Known as the “Star of North Texas,” Gainesville is located in Cooke County. Gainesville is an hour from the DFW Metroplex and 30 minutes from Denton and Sherman. The city is home to North Central Texas College and offers a range of recreational activities.
