Description: The San Antonio Express-News is seeking a full-time editorial writer. A seasoned journalist with experience in reporting and/or opinion writing and at least a bachelor’s degree is preferred. The job requires strong writing skills as well as an ability to quickly understand complex public policy issues and develop sharp, well-reasoned positions on those issues. The editorial writer will be required to participate in meetings with public officials and others seeking to be heard on public policy and community issues, and work with colleagues on the Editorial Board to develop the newspaper’s editorial positions. We emphasize local and state issues. The position requires some editing, proofing and other duties. San Antonio’s environment is like its people, warm and wonderful. It's pleasant most of the year, with only a handful of days below freezing or above 100, and the cost of living is envied by journalists in other major cities. If you want to get away for a weekend, the Gulf Coast or Mexico are just two hours away. And a quiet drive to historic German towns in the beautiful Texas Hill Country is less than an hour away. If you’d like to be part of one of the most diverse newsrooms in America, and one of the fastest-growing, dynamic areas of the country, you should consider improving your life by joining the Express-News.
