Do you love editing copy? Is laying out a newspaper a skill you’re proud to possess? Are you upbeat, energetic and ready to make a difference in a bustling community that drinks up local news like a glass of ice-cold sweet tea on a hot summer day? Then apply for our available copy editor position at the Midland Reporter-Telegram, located smack-dab in the heart of West Texas.
We’re looking for smart, creative people to work with us at our newspaper who want to flex their creative muscles and join our team to make the best daily in the Lone Star State. The position requires copy editing and page design experience, a strong knowledge of Associated Press style, attention to detail and the ability to not buckle under pressure.
A degree in journalism, English, communications or a related field is preferred. Sports knowledge is a plus because Midland loves its high school and college sports. Recent and soon-to-be college graduates are encouraged to apply.
If you think you’ve got what it takes, then email your résumé, design samples and references to News Editor Trevor Hawes at thawes@mrt.com. Hard copy submissions can be mailed to Midland Reporter-Telegram, Attn.: Trevor Hawes, 201 E. Illinois Ave., Midland, TX 79701. Call 432-687-8854 after 4 p.m. Central to learn more.
