Description:
Seeking Online Community Editor ReportingonHealth.org is seeking an online community editor with experience managing content and guiding outreach and growth strategy. A project of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, ReportingonHealth.org engages and informs journalists, bloggers, policy makers and others passionate about fostering great coverage of crucial health topics. ReportingonHealth is a place to swap ideas and showcase original blog posts, articles, essays and resource guides. It is an initiative that builds upon USC Annenberg’s California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships, a professional training program. The community editor ensures high journalistic standards for all content and multimedia offerings and works with developers to maintain and expand features offered on the site. Responsibilities include writing and editing content; outreach to new contributors and members; supervising interns and contributors, providing oversight of comments and member posts as well as managing related social media. The community editor will also help run a Webinar series and associated outreach as well as other special projects. He/she will monitor web analytics and be responsible for coordinating successful strategies to generate growth in member participation and expansion of the site’s online audience. The community editor must stay on top of the news cycle, responding to breaking health stories and producing a lively, informative weekly newsletter. This full-time position with health benefits is based at a satellite USC office in Alhambra, California.
