Description:

The Daily Record in Ellensburg, Wash., a 6,000-circulation newspaper in Central Washington, has a full-time opening for a sports editor.
We're looking for someone with good organization and people skills who can juggle coverage of five high schools, Central Washington University (a NCAA Division II school with a full slate of sports) and one of the nation's oldest and best PRCA rodeos.
In addition to writing game stories, the perfect candidate also will need to design pages and seek out enterprise features and packages. Experience with photography, video, the Web and social media is helpful. It's primarily a one-person job, but the paper uses a mixture of sports correspondents. Sports editors from the Daily Record have gone on to work in much larger markets.
The Daily Record is an award-winning, a six-day-a-week newspaper that offers the sort of coverage typically found at much larger papers. Ellensburg, population 18,000, is a lively community on the edge of the Cascade Mountains with lots of outdoor opportunities, including skiing, mountain biking and hiking. It's about two hours from Seattle.
A bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent reporting experience is preferred. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
