The George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs (SMPA) is looking for a part-time Events Coordinator. The Coordinator will assist with major SMPA events to help build school identity and community while raising the profile of the SMPA brand. The candidate must have demonstrated success in conceiving and executing high-profile free and paid events for the general public. Event experience in the politics, media or public affairs industries is a plus. Duties include comprehensive project and event management, speaker booking, budgeting, catering, event logistics, some event marketing, and other duties as assigned to execute both small and large events. The position will provide some administrative support, oversee volunteers, and provide on-site management during weekday and weeknight events. Applicants must have superior organizational skills, attention to detail, be proactive, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong computer skills, and an extremely polished and professional demeanor. Pay is consummate with experience. Monthly contract only, no benefits. This position will begin immediately and conclude in May, 2013, with the possibility of renewal.
