Are you:

  • Comfortable sitting at your desk writing out a story on deadline as you are tweeting from a city council meeting or breaking news event?
  • Able to ask the tough questions of the mayor or city council about controversial subjects?
  • Excited to dig through meeting, legal notices or request records for in-depth enterprise work to hold public officials accountable?
  • Able to spin a compelling story about the people who make living in Stevens Point great?

Then we want you to become part of our four-person multimedia newsroom to cover city and area governments and other general assignment duties. Our next reporter also will be able to shoot photos with stories, Tweet and manage a social media presence.

The right candidate will be aggressive, have solid grasp of what makes news, able to generate story ideas from daily briefs and centerpieces to weekly enterprise and long-term projects.

Preferred candidates will have three to five years experience at a small to mid-size newspaper, magazine or other notable publication, embrace the digital focus of our publication, a four-year college degree and the ability to work independently on deadline.  Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, proof of insurance and own transportation.
