Description:

   Magazine for youth baseball players has 2 special freelance opportunities:

   First is for writers who can dedicate a part of their time this Winter while at the Grapefruit or Cactus leagues at MLB spring training. You will be in either Florida or Arizona while MLB teams prepare for the season ahead. You will interview players to contribute to a series of “Top Tips from the Pros” articles for our readers, ages 7-17. Payment is flat fee per article. Lodging and food is your responsibility. Ideal for sports journalist already planning to cover Spring Training.

   Second assignment is to help us cover the Travel Ball scene. You will help compile youth tournament results, interview coaches, collect photographs from the games, profile individual tournaments, and keep an updated calendar of upcoming events. You will also work with us to develop enterprise stories around interesting players and human interest stories pertinent to the game. Payment is on a per word basis.

   For either assignment, your credentials should show an ability to write for teens; knowledge of the game of baseball, and solid writing skills. Please send clips supporting this, as well as resume and cover indicating in which assignment you are interested. For the MLB assignment, please detail your preferred location, compensation requirements and availability between when pitchers & catchers report to Opening Day.
