InvestmentNews is seeking an analyst to support its growing research and adviser benchmarking business, as well as its editorial data offerings. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong analytical skills and a passion for finding headline-worthy news in data and research.

Specifically, the Research Analyst will:

• Support the internal development of InvestmentNews’ annual benchmarking reports on 2-3 projects per year. Specific responsibilities on these projects will include:
  • Review and construction of survey questions, logic and programming
  • Work as part of a team that will analyze and identify survey results for trends and developments that would drive editorial content surrounding the study. The content could include print and online stories, as well as presentations for InvestmentNews events and webcasts
  • Manage the underlying databases that will support the development of InvestmentNews Research’s digital tools and dashboard
  •  Generate and deliver custom data requests and cut reports to InvestmentNews Research clients
• Maintain, update and improve InvestmentNews’ primary digital data center offerings
• Develop survey questionnaires for both InvestmentNews’ cross-sectional surveys (readership surveys) and longitudinal surveys (those collecting historical data – IBD, employee brokerage, custodian and clearing firm surveys).
• Conduct analysis of findings gathered through both cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys, as well as InvestmentNews’ six primary databases
• Work with the Data Editor  and editorial staff to develop new charts, rankings and databases that further improve InvestmentNews’ positioning as the leading provider of information to financial advisers.

Requirements:

• Three to five years of experience as a research analyst in a financial services environment
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• The ability to learn quickly and the desire to multi-task
• BA/BS Degree (Journalism, Finance or related field preferred)
