Description: DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF CITY COMMUNICATIONS (City Communications Officer) (Job Reference #502310) Full-time position available with the Office of the City Manager. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Advises city officials and managers in the development, establishment and maintenance of effective and consistent current and long range policies, plans and practices that impact public information distribution and public relations, both internal and external. Directs staff and activities in the areas of Internet and intranet content development; media relations and community engagement; video production and government TV services; copy development and editing services; graphic design services; and support for City departments. These activities are focused to accomplish the following: Performs related duties as assigned and required. Requires an accredited Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications or related area and 5 years of administrative experience in directing a major public information, public relations or communications program; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Preference for an accredited Master’s degree in journalism, marketing or communications with an emphasis in strategic or integrated communications.
