Description:

 

The Portland Press Herald seeks an online content producer for pressherald.com.  This position will be responsible for generating, producing and uploading new content, as well as improving content from non-news sources.  Duties will include periodic management of pressherald.com’s home page and being the point person for designated topic areas. The producer must demonstrate good news judgment in selection and posting of content and photos; thorough knowledge of current events, especially local and state news, is a must.

 

Other required skills include experience in HTML; proficiency in video and audio editing; proficiency in Photoshop; strong communication skills; familiarity with social media; writing and editing skills, including proper grammar and spelling; and knowledge of SEO, especially in headline writing.  Candidates also should be able to demonstrate an ability to conceptualize and craft interactive online projects.

 

Producer must have a minimum of 3-4 years professional experience at a daily news organization and a bachelor’s degree. Successful candidates also should possess familiarity with industry trends, high levels of initiative, and the ability to be a team player.  Some nights and weekend work may be required.
