Description:
The Associated Press seeks a Newsperson/Video Journalist for its Chicago bureau. The Video Journalist will shoot, write and edit video stories for AP's broadcast, digital and mobile platforms. The Video Journalist will develop strong sources in the region, working closely with the Regional Video Producer, regional desk and Broadcast News Center to generate distinctive video reporting. He or she will possess excellent reporting, camera and editing skills, and be prepared to be deployed to cover breaking news events across the region, and country, at short notice. The Video Journalist should embrace new digital products and innovative storytelling styles. This position will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: We are seeking an experienced video journalist with great news sense and the ability to deliver compelling, distinctive video stories for both digital and broadcast clients. He or she must be prepared to generate story ideas, and bring the best visual storytelling techniques to their packages. The ideal candidate will have strong news judgment and reacts quickly to breaking news. The successful candidate must work effectively in a deadline driven, dynamic and competitive newsroom/field environment. He or she will have a strong on-camera presence and a trained broadcast voice. The ideal candidate will also be a skillful team player capable of working with video, text and photo staff. He or she will have strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills, including the ability to prioritize work. Previous experience working in a multimedia environment is desirable. Candidates must have experience editing non-linear video and be prepared to work all shifts, including overnight and weekends.  Advanced-level competency in written and spoken English is required. Authorization to work in the US is mandatory.
