Description:
The Associated Press seeks a Newsperson/Regional Video Producer for its Phoenix location. This Newsperson coordinates video coverage across his/her region, working closely with the Regional Editor to deliver outstanding breaking news coverage, original journalism and distinctive visual storytelling. The Newsperson works closely with all AP formats, coordinating coverage with regional video journalists and video-trained text and photo staff. The Newsperson will play a key role in identifying strong regional stories and developing them into distinctive video stories. The Newsperson will be required to write scripts and edit video when necessary. This position will also perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: We are seeking an experienced video journalist with great news sense and judgment with the ability to deliver compelling, distinctive video stories for both digital and broadcast clients. The ideal candidate will be a skillful team player capable of working with video, text and photo staff shooting video, and guiding their work to meet AP's highest standards.  The successful candidate must work effectively in a deadline driven, dynamic and competitive newsroom environment. He or she will possess strong visual storytelling skills, and understand how video content is consumed across a variety of devices and platforms. The successful candidate will have extensive experience overseeing the production of video news stories at an affiliate, network or cable news station. He or she will have strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills, including the ability to prioritize work and motivate others. Field production skills and previous experience working in a multimedia environment are preferred. The producer will be expected to develop strong relationships with affiliate stations in the region. Candidates should also have experience editing non-linear video, preferably with Adobe Premier.  Must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.  Advanced-level competency in written and spoken English is required. Authorization to work in the US is mandatory.
