Description: Sauk Prairie Eagle Our award-winning weekly newspaper, named 2009 Weekly Newspaper of the Year by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, is seeking a top-notch reporter and editor who will build upon an established tradition of excellence in community journalism. The Eagle has won the WNA's coveted first-place General Excellence Award four years running. Duties include story generation, news and feature writing, photography, interviewing sources and researching data for news and feature articles. A high level of news judgment is necessary. This position also requires coordination with reporters and editors at the Eagle's sister daily newspaper, the Baraboo News Republic, and occasionally involves providing breaking news coverage and weekend reporting on daily deadlines. The reporter/assistant editor will coordinate the publication's social networking presence. Work hours will include some nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will have previous reporting and photography experience. Minimum requirements include the ability to write clearly and concisely, the ability to translate complicated facts and information into copy that is readable, the ability to develop news reports with little direction, and news judgment needed to determine what does or does not make a story.
