Description: Nature, the international weekly journal of science, seeks an Assistant News Editor to edit online and print news stories by its global network of reporters and freelancers. Reporting to the Washington, DC news editor, the Assistant News Editor commissions and edits stories and works with art, photo and copy-editing staffs to deliver unique, high-impact journalism aimed at an audience of working scientists. The role also includes using social media to promote stories on Nature’s heavily trafficked news site. We seek a journalist with at least three years of experience, including a year of editing, and a demonstrated interest in science policy and funding as well as in research. The job requires an ability to work to tight deadlines, multi-task and interact smoothly with other team members. It is based in Nature’s Washington, DC, office.
