The candidate must be an idea machine, able to identify and tell the stories of New York to a national and global audience.
After orientation to AP operations, this reporter would be based in City Hall, working to break news on this competitive beat. This reporter would cover New York City and its political landscape and initiatives for a global audience.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a track record of excellence as a reporter and writer with strong news judgment and a commitment to aggressively pursuing spot news and developing hard-edge enterprise. The ideal candidate will have experience in New York City and demonstrated success at working a political beat. The candidate will have an ability work quickly and independently, breaking stories and producing spot and enterprise. He or she should also have computer-assisted reporting skills and be well-versed in Freedom of Information work. A successful candidate thrives in a competitive media market. Multimedia gathering experience is a plus.
Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the U.S. will be mandatory.
