Melwood Global (, a strategic communications firm with offices in Boston and the Washington, D.C. area, seeks an account executive to work from its downtown Boston office. We are a firm owned by former longtime daily journalists and spokespeople who put a premium on media experience, strategic thinking, client service and innovative thinking.

Our firm works on behalf of numerous clients in New England, throughout the United States and abroad in areas including health care, energy, k-12 and higher education, government, politics, labor, criminal justice, international aid and foreign policy, transportation and disability issues.

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field (or, if not, tell us why your degree brings unique value to this job)

·         Professional experience as a working journalist

·         At least two years of experience (as a journalist or in communications)

·         Superb research, writing and communicating abilities

·         Confident and outgoing personality

·         Unending curiosity about and voracious appetite for news – local, national and international

·         Proven understanding and effective use of social media

·         Ability to grasp multiple issues across multiple industries within tight deadlines

·         Excellent time management skills

·         Detail oriented

·         Computer and online literate with flawless skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·         Deep experience with social media platforms and communications tools

·         Access to your own vehicle (though our office is public transportation friendly)

Professional experience in public relations is not mandatory, though it is beneficial.

This full-time position offers a highly competitive pay range and benefits. Salary range is high-$30ks to low-$40ks. Benefits include health care, three weeks’ paid vacation, profit-sharing, commission bonuses, flexible hours and some travel. A company-funded retirement plan is offered to eligible employees.
