The Standard-Examiner, a dynamic Western newspaper/media company in Ogden, Utah seeks an energetic, creative person to fill the newly created position of Social Media Editor. This position will be the hub of all online operations at the Standard-Examiner and works under the direction of the Visuals/ Digital Editor to facilitate, generate and promote all digital offerings on all platforms.

Job duties include:

-Oversee and coordinate all online posting of stories, photos, videos, audio, etc.

-Monitor and improve offerings on all online editorial platforms (Standard.net, Hers, Xplore, Go!, Apple/Android tablet and phone applications, email newsletters and text alerts).

-Organize and create consistent standards for all outside digital platform communications (Twitter, You Tube, Facebook, etc.)

-Facilitate training of content center staff in regards to expectations and appropriate usage of social media platforms and online personas.

-Search for and coordinate the aggregation of online content from various sources and repackage as news products.

-Administer and continually refine Search Engine Optimization in headline writing and all online offerings.

-Emphasize methods of social media interaction as a means of gaining referrals to increase traffic.

- Monitor competing news sites locally and nationally and coordinate timely posting of breaking news.

-Prioritize and arrange online content to boost traffic and audience engagement.

-Act as a primary contact for staff and users related to difficulties navigating the website or posting content.

-Seek out reader generated content for special online and print projects and to accompany staff content.

-Daily collaboration with editors and reporters on ways to enhance offerings on all platforms

-Encourage and promte regular reader content contributions
