The Carlsbad Current-Argus, a 7,000-circulation, six-day daily in Carlsbad, New Mexico, seeks a journalist who is passionate about perfection. The job is a night-shift position that would involve proofreading each page as well as taking ownership of the paper's special sections and contribute stories to a weekly alternative/entertainment magazine. Knowledge of Quark XPress is helpful, but not neccesary. We're happy to provide the training. It's an exciting time of change for the Current-Argues, which is recommitting itself to the mission of local journalism and is part of the Digital First initiative. Carlsbad sits in the southeastern corner of New Mexico, situated in the Chihuahuan Desert. Its home to the famous Carlsbad Caverns and WIPP, the nation's nuclear waste disposal facility – and we’re an hour south of Roswell, the UFO capital of the world, if you’re into that sort of thing. If you're an outdoors enthusiast, you'll love the Pecos River, Brantley Lake and the nearby Guadalupe Mountains National Park
