Description: First Book leads the nonprofit sector in providing critical access to new, high-quality books and educational resources for children in need. Since 1992, First Book has pioneered innovative channels to provide more than 100 million new books for free and at low cost to more than 50,000 schools and community- based programs in low-income communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. About the position: First Book seeks a talented, energetic manager to oversee our social media platforms (over 100,000 followers across multiple channels) and our high-quality blog, and to create opportunities for raising funds, increase First Book’s network of teachers and program leaders, and cultivate strong relationships with bloggers, online media and influential figures in the worlds of education and social enterprise. We seek someone who is passionate about social media, well versed in best practices and adept at integrating social media across organizational functions and audiences. This includes promoting cross-promotional opportunities with colleagues in development, corporate and nonprofit partnerships, and volunteer management. The Social Media Manager will take initiative in identifying new ways to leverage social media to advance the organization’s mission and goals. This newly-upgraded position at First Book is ideal for someone who is creative yet strategic, disciplined yet nimble, thoughtful yet quick to seize opportunities. The successful candidate will be flexible and able to juggle multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced, pressured environment. Excellent sense of humor is a must.
