Applicants must have understanding of all major sports, statistics, IHSAA rules and Indiana teams. Coverage is primarily prep sports and related features. Job is 15 to 20 hours per week. You will be on the road around the Indianapolis and Shelbyville areas each weekend and some week nights. Must have reliable transportation.

Must be able to write well with perfect spelling and grammar. Newspaper experience and knowledge of AP Style a plus. Strong interviewing skills needed. Must be comfortable with computers and basic photography and must be able to work independently from the road or in the hospitality room.

Preferred qualifications: One year reporting experience at a daily newspaper or three years at a college publication. Related internships completed. Bachelor's degree in journalism or solid progress toward degree.
