POSITION: Bloomberg BNA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bloomberg, and a leading source of legal, regulatory, and business information for professionals, seeks an Editor I to edit outside author manuscripts, update products, and support assigned legal publication(s) to facilitate production including editing, formatting, writing, scheduling, cite checking, and proofreading.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Edit manuscripts by outside authors for publication; edit for substance and style, and conduct legal research to supplement authors’ work; proofread and ensure proper citation form; communicate with outside authors regarding all stages of manuscript preparation through meeting and by phone, e-mail, or written correspondence in consultation with legal and managing editors; set and adhere to schedules and resolving problems; mark up and tag material using established codes to ensure content is in correct format for publication; write new content on a limited basis (i.e., writing for style, consistency, and sense); ensure timely production scheduling of chapters and updates, and coordinate production with other BNA units; assist managing editor in monitoring all assigned offerings in order to determine the need for updates and revisions; schedule, monitor, and maintain detailed status of assigned publications; check functionality and content of final online pages for quality assurance purposes; participate in special projects; and perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: 2 + years publishing experience; demonstrated ability to research, write, and edit/copy edit material for content and style under deadline pressure; strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with others on routine issues; ability to interact effectively with people both inside and outside BNA; ability to use electronic research methods effectively; ability to use BNA publishing systems effectively with BNA training; accurate keyboarding skills; strong organizational skills and excellent proofreading skills. Publishing systems experience is highly desirable. Bachelor’s.

Candidates are required to pass a test for this position.
