Media Outreach Program Officer for Foreign Policy Nonprofit

The Stanley Foundation seeks a program officer for its Policy and Outreach Department to develop working relationships with media gatekeepers and citizen leaders vital to the fulfillment of foundation goals. The successful applicant will work toward developing public and media awareness and understanding of multilateralism in general and of specific foundation policy initiatives.  This work involves both developing relationships with media gatekeepers and generating events and material that raises the foundation’s profile and increases public understanding of international issues.  This person will ultimately strengthen the foundation’s ability to work with the media and the public in an educational and collaborative manner.

The Stanley Foundation brings fresh voices, original ideas, and lasting solutions to debates on global and regional problems. It is a nonpartisan, private operating foundation that focuses primarily on peace and security issues and advocates principled multilateralism. For us, principled multilateralism means working respectfully across differences to create balanced and just solutions.

The Stanley Foundation’s work recognizes the essential roles of the policy community, media professionals, and the involved public in building sustainable peace. Much of our work aims at connecting people from different backgrounds, and that often produces clarifying insights and innovative solutions.

The program officer reports to the Director of Policy and Outreach and works closely with other foundation program officers and experts. This is an excellent opportunity to shape and focus programming and analysis that fits within the foundation’s highly regarded work on evolving global systems, human protection, and nuclear security.

Desirable traits include:

·         Experience with policy or foundation programming.

The position requires frequent travel.
