Description: The Drill/special projects editor The Drill is a free 49,000-circulation monthly publication designed to keep readers on top of an oil boom in southwest North Dakota and eastern Montana. The publication is a collaboration of news, opinions, features and more. The area is seeing so much growth and so many new faces that there is never a shortage of content. The Drill/special projects editor is responsible for the publication and its content. There may also be writing, copy editing, photo, video, lay out and other assignments directly related to its sister publication, The Dickinson Press. Requirements and duties: - Experience with Quark or Indesign. - Flexible and open to layout, writing and photo suggestions. - Get in touch with Oil Patch residents to provide creative, informative stories. Stories do not have to be solely based on oil and its impact and may include features. - Produce a minimum of 12 bylined stories per month, each with a minimum of three sources. - Take video and photos to go along with the publication. - Use Photoshop to edit photos. - Knowledge of AP style. - Help to upload and keep its associated website bakkentoday.com timely. - Work with readers to create blogs. - Other duties as assigned by The Dickinson Press editor. - Be willing to work nights, weekends and cover breaking news. Salary is $30,000-$36,000 and includes benefits. Possible housing assistance is available.
