This person will write multiple stories a week and may also help secure and edit blogger and freelance content to appear on usnews.com. In addition, this person will help post stories and blogs, edit photos, and produce slideshows using our internal content management system.

The ideal candidate will have a background in covering higher education, with preference given to those with online experience writing on topics related to graduate MBA, law, and medical education. Also preferred are those with experience with social media networks, search engine optimization, and content management systems, and the ability to juggle myriad responsibilities in a busy environment.

Requirements:

• Proven research, writing, and editing skills, with a minimum of four years of reporting experience
• A firm grasp of current events and strong editorial judgment
• Keen interest in education, particularly U.S. higher education
• Working knowledge of and interest inU.S. News's Education rankings projects
• Excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong understanding of SEO and experience with online analytics reporting
• Willingness to contribute as needed as a member of a small team
• Basic understanding of HTML, Photoshop, and Web production
• College degree or equivalent
