          The University of Arizona School of Journalism invites applications for an assistant or associate professor of practice, non-tenure eligible, who would provide key teaching and support for digital media, entrepreneurial initiatives, school media, and alternative models of journalism. The person would assist in the development and coordination of the school’s media publications, as well as teach courses in digital journalism.

Candidates should have significant professional journalistic experience in new media, Web development and newsroom management or entrepreneurship. Candidates should be enthusiastic about teaching, as well as collaborating with faculty within and outside the school to create new journalism initiatives within the context of digital transformation. Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in journalism or related field. They must have strong visual, writing, editing, and communication skills in English, and the capacity to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies on campus and outside of the university. Position responsibilities include teaching three classes per semester, with a focus on school media classes, and service to the school, university, and profession. All students are required to complete a school media course, which includes a newspaper, magazine, TV show, and news service covering communities of the Southwest (more information at

The school has integrated digital media throughout its curriculum, including classes in multimedia and entrepreneurial journalism, and wishes to expand online opportunities for students while maintaining rigorous training in writing, reporting, and ethics.
