Description:

Wrapports, parent company of Sun-Times Media, is looking for web producers to manage content and social media for community focused websites throughout suburban Chicagoland. The position will include community outreach and content creation as part of a new model that combines traditional content production/curation with user-generated content.

The position will be hands-on and will include ongoing content model development and audience growth and engagement efforts. Immediate responsibilities will include reaching out to local newsmaking individuals, groups and organizations within a given community to create a flow of locally sourced content that will complement other traditional and innovative content flows from within the company. Another immediate responsibility will be establishing and growing a web presence through various social media, as well as direct engagement through social media with local groups and individuals to build and strengthen our brand as a community news source.

Ideal candidates will have college degrees in journalism or communication, as well as intern or professional experience at newspapers or other print/online media. Familiarity and experience with online social media is a must. We’re looking for outgoing and energetic individuals who are comfortable with a high-paced “startup” environment and excited about helping us figure out new ways of interacting with and delivering high-interest content to local communities.

If you’re interested in this or other opportunities with Wrapports, email your resume and references to wrapportsjobs@suntimes.com with “Web Producer” in the subject line. Make sure to include your names/handles for Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Google+ or any other social media that bolsters your candidacy. Don’t bother with a cover letter, but feel free to include any extra context that strengthens your candidacy in your email. Not every emailed resume will receive a response. Wrapports is an equal opportunity employer.
