Description:

Senior Manager for Digital Content

Azcentral.com is looking for a senior editor to direct digital content.

Primary responsibilities include:

1. Advocate for great online content

At Republic Media, we have an Information Center that provides content to all our products: Print, desktop, television, smartphone, tablet, and social media channels. This manager will be an advocate for great daily content and longer-term projects for the general desktop, mobile and tablet products. We are looking for someone who understands the audience, who knows the best presentation techniques, who gets what content resonates online and who has the communication, technical, advocacy and organizational skills to get it done. Specific duties include:

-- Attend planning and news meetings to brainstorm, suggest and assign great online content.

-- Supervise azcentral.com home page and news managers to best select, produce and promote digital content.

-- Be a liaison to other departmental online groups – entertainment, community, business, sports, opinion -- sharing and facilitating best practices, training and product enhancements.

-- Be the online partner to social media, video and tablet magazine editors, helping achieve digital goals and drive digital audience across the IC.

-- Analyze traffic and audience satisfaction data and respond with product, workflow and content improvements.

-- Collect, distribute and analyze weekly and monthly metrics reports.

2. Supervise mobile curators

Traffic to azcentral mobile products has doubled in the last year.  How, what and when our mobile readers consume our content is significantly different than the traditional desktop browser.  There is a need to customize when and what content is featured on these devices. This manager will supervise mobile platform producers to meet the needs of our growing mobile audience and manage the experiences on our iPhone, iPad and Android applications. Responsibilities to include:

-- Create customized experiences around breaking news, social media and special events.

-- Collaborate with editors and reporters to select, tailor and package content for the device and program it for a specific time of day and day of the week.

-- Analyze traffic data and mobile trends to determine reader behavior and respond with the most engaging experiences specific to mobile or tablet devices.

-- Recommend new publishing processes to efficiently manage the content for each device.

3. Collaborate. Innovate. Keep moving forward.

This job is for the news and information junkie who lives in the moment and is passionate about the online audience and experience. At the same time, you need to help us move forward in how we write, edit, organize and present content to digital audiences. We want you to work closely with content creators on new ideas and experiences. We want you to bring fresh ideas to the organization. Experiment.  Suggest. Question why things are done a certain way. Lead.
