OVERVIEW
The Copy & Web Editor sits within the Creative Services Department that provides support to our internal customers across our products, services and events. This position supports editorial requirements by proofreadding and light copy editing  EI publications and other content, manipulating graphical content for the website and tagging stories based on content to better enhance user experience. You will also be required to carry out any other duties which may reasonably be required of you.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proofing and light copy editing all daily, weekly, monthly and annual EIG content for clarity, grammar and in-house style
  • Inputting tables, graphs and images into our online content management system
  • Working with editors, reporters and production to finalize and publish content
  • Properly tagging stories based on content for online organization and distribution


CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Strong knowledge of standard English grammar, usage and writing
  • Attention to detail with a strong ability to catch typos and ambiguous or dubious content, and carefully review and double-check revisions
  • Work well under deadline pressure
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable with using Microsoft Office products
  • Dependability and consistency
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment


SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with American spelling and usage
  • Knowledge of the energy industry and related terminology a plus
  • Experience using content management systems
  • Experienced in Microsoft Products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of business use of social media channels including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest
  • Experience/knowledge managing content on websites
  • Experience/knowledge of HTML, HTML5, JAVA, CSS and CSS3, and Photoshop is preferred;


EDUCATION & JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Undergraduate degree in English, journalism or a similar qualification
  • At least two years of media or publishing experience preferred
