Description:

Award-winning newspaper in Illinois is seeking a reporter who’s passionate about community journalism. Candidate must be flexible and able to write features, school news, city-county news and some sports, in addition to layout, editing and photography but assignments are diverse and the opportunity for enterprise is rich. Canidate should have a proven track record of juggling multiple projects, as well as be a strong writer and solid reporter. Must be versatile, able to analyze and write well, cover beats, work well under deadline and take complicated issues and make the reader understand them. The position requires someone with a passion for telling stories about the people in a small community as well as investigating the public’s business. The candidate must also have a willingness to ask tough questions with an eye toward holding officials at every level accountable. We are committed to an intensely local focus and watchdog journalism is one of our cornerstones.
