Description:

“Building Trades News” is the monthly newspaper of the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council. Like our unions, we’re dynamic and growing.

We cover politics, urban planning and development, representing the union construction workforce that will build major projects in the future.

We’re looking for reliable, enthusiastic freelance writers based in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Orange County and Sacramento.

Qualifications:

*Have clips in print or online journalism. Experience at a city hall, board of education, planning commission or legislature is preferable but not required.

*Meet deadlines. Show up 15 minutes early and stay till you're done.

*Talk to anyone, anytime, about anything, from a worker on the job site to the Mayor of LA.

*Cover meetings during the day and evenings. You'll visit our work sites as well.

 

We have 1-2 assignments per month in each area. We’re launching our website in February 2013.
