We’re looking for someone with a strong attention to detail, a sharp visual eye, and a flair for presenting information online.

Key responsibilities include:

• Update section pages on the Web site by posting new stories, creating promotions for key content, creating collections of content that help users navigate the site, and designing pages for special reports.
• Acquire, publish, and present photos for the Web site. This includes taking photos and working with outside photographers and other sources to obtain photos for use online.
• Assist with the export and online presentation of content that originally appears in The Chronicle’s print edition.
• Create audio and video stories for the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s Web site. This will involve planning, recording, and editing material for unique stories that will be presented online.
• Moderate comments from users so that abusive or otherwise problematic posts do not appear on The Chronicle Web site.
• Produce and send The Chronicle’s daily and weekly e-mail newsletters.
• Assist with production of The Chronicle’s live discussions series and with the administration of its social networks.
• Produce and edit PowerPoint slides and other visual materials for The Chronicle’sWebinar series.
• Assist in creating and moderating online communities for each Webinar.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of HTML and CSS and experience working with content management systems and blogging platforms, such as WordPress.  They will also have experience creating, editing and producing online audio and video using programs such as Final Cut and Audacity.  Familiarity and comfort working in PowerPoint is required, as is the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years working in an online newsroom.  Experience in the nonprofit world – any aspect of it, such as arts, education, social change – is a plus.
