The ideal candidate must be well versed in all facets of news, including entertainment, and must have experience with online photo editing in a newsroom environment, preferably for a daily.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Editing photos and creating slideshows
• Creating graphics in Photoshop using overlays and silhouetting for homepage banners
• Selecting and cropping photographs for multiple sections ofNYDailynews.com
• Illustrating breaking news stories with speed and efficiency
• Researching photos for upcoming feature packages and selecting photos to recommend to editors
• Ensuring that the visual presentation for New York Daily News is creative and visually compelling

Requirements:

• A strong passion for journalism and photo storytelling
• Understanding of photo rights issues
• Familiarity with PC
• Ability to research and track down photos, especially in breaking news situations, that call for quick visual representation
• Skills and familiarity with online media, including proficiency in Photoshop, HTML, XML and other applications
• Ability to use Photoshop (quick masking, color correcting)
• Great attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Comfortable with change and willing to adapt to the constant flow of news
• Ability to work well in a collaborative environment
• Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism or experience in a newsroom
