Description:
The Elk City Daily News is seeking a motivated sports editor to take over its competitive one-person sports desk in January. High school athletics are king in western Oklahoma so there’s almost always someone playing something somewhere. Primary responsibilities include area high school sports and outdoors coverage and some occasional news reporting and photography. With a regular Tuesday through Saturday schedule, some weekend and evening work is required. The sports editor also takes photos and designs the sports section. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is preferred. Social media is a big part of our total coverage package and increased website use is developing. We are a highly competitive newspaper in a two-newspaper town. The position offers no shortage of experience, opportunity and exposure. If you love sports, love writing and love newspapers, this could be the spot for you. We are a family-owned newspaper serving our area of western Oklahoma since 1901. Contact: Send resume, work samples, references and letter outlining your game plan for this position to jb@ecdailynews.com or mail to: Ms. J.B. Bittner, managing editor, The Elk City Daily News, 206 W. Broadway, Elk City, OK 73644
