MBN is an international multi-media broadcasting non-profit corporation based in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. We use state of the art technologies in a digital facility multi-channel live TV 24/7 network environment broadcasting news entertainment and information in Arabic to the Arabic speaking countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Production Assistants provide support to Producers and Senior Producers in most stages of pre-production and news production.  Incumbent responsibilities include, technical, creative and administrative tasks from logistical organization to booking live feeds, making sure the news production process runs smoothly.  PAs must be intuitive, alert provide immediate assistance to Producers and Senior Producers facing deadline challenges. Handle multiple projects on an on-going basis.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Functions:Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job).

• Track the location and progress of packages ordered
• Produce and work with anchors on daily topical
• Write CG’s  and news headlines for assigned programs
• Select pictures for graphics and request graphics from Design Team
• Input information into ENPS
• Gather material, create and edit sequences in Bit Central
• Follow up to ensure graphics are ready by deadline
• Request research material as directed by Producers and Senior Producer
• Issue reference numbers and track stories ordered from news vendors (APTN, etc)
• Work closely with Producers, Senior Producers

OTHER DUTIES:

• The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in journalism preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Must develop strong news judgment
• Must have keen sense of logistics and ability to work well with others including producers, reporters, photographers, other personnel and the public
• Ability to multi-task and learn new industry specific software
• Able to work effectively with all levels of management and staff in a professional manner
• Exercise self-discipline and time-management skills
• Basic understanding of MS Office
• Intermediate skill level with word processing,
• Proactive planner and problem solving skills
• Ability to prioritize, maintain steady workflow during peak hours and cope with last-minute changes
• Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment, which could include overnight coverage.
