The (Lynchburg) News & Advance is searching for an editor/designer to join its regional desk located in Lynchburg, Va. The Lynchburg desk handles the editing and design for two mid-sized daily newspapers -- The (Lynchburg) News & Advance and Danville Register & Bee -- as well as multiple weekly community newspapers in Virginia and North Carolina. We're looking for an editor who will spend two days each week coordinating the production of two award-winning weekly papers in Central Virginia. This editor will work closely with reporters and other editors to help plan, edit, and coordinate content for the weeklies. The rest of the week, the editor will work as a copy editor/page designer, responsible for designing clean pages, writing strong and accurate headlines and cutlines, working carefully with local and wire copy and proofing pages for all sections of our newspapers. Candidates must have solid reporting experience, good news judgment, the ability to juggle multiple tasks, an eye for good design, experience with InDesign or Quark and be well-versed in AP style. You must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
